The Blackfoot River

I've always loved large bodies of water. I think they are not only beautiful but they are peaceful to watch and listen to. So although I don't live near the ocean and probably never will again, I love that we live a short walk away from the Blackfoot River. This is the river featured in the movie A River Runs Through It.

Over July 4th and 5th we had some friends from Canada come and stay with us so I thought it was the ideal time finally to take a walk with the kids down to the river. It is wider than it looks in images. It is also very fast flowing and VERY cold. I know it is from ice and snow which have just melted, but it took my breath away when I put my feet into the water.

Rob recently acquired some fishing rods for regular fishing and fly fishing. His dad is now here to go fishing with him this week, before Rob starts work next week. Rob has been pretty excited about trying to catch some trout and salmon.
