For a little over a year now Luke and Thomas have been obsessed with pirates. The like to dress-up as pirates, talk like pirates, read pirate books, and talk about pirates. Over that time we've accumulated a fair amount of pirate things. In trying to figure out a theme for their birthday party, they decided that they would like to have a pirate party. For weeks they anticipated this event and talked about it incessantly.
Finally the day arrived. They had their closest friends whom they play with regularly come to the party. Everyone was dressed as a pirate, which was fun. During the party we played various pirate games, searched for treasure, walked the plank, made pirate swords, smashed a treasure chest piñata, decorated cupcakes and blew out candles, and so on. They all had a blast!
