Searching for treasure

The twins have kind of been obsessed with pirates for a long time now. A long time ago they watched an episode of the Backyardigans which was about pirates. In that episode they find a treasure map that has an 'X' on it showing where the treasure is. Eventually they find the spot and there is an 'X' on the ground. Once they dig up the treasure, they decide to bury it again, but to avoid others finding it, they mark a 'Y' on the ground instead.

Well, we have a large white 'Y' on the mountain, symbolizing BYU. The twins have been convinced since that episode of the Backyardigans that there is treasure there and they regularly asked Rob and me to take them to the 'Y' to dig up the treasure. The only problem is that it is quite a steep hike and there is no way they would manage that.

So Rob went up the canyon behind our house and painted a 'Y' on the ground and buried some coins in a glass mason jar. He then dressed the boys as pirates and took them to dig for treasure. Luke, though, wasn't fooled but Thomas thought it was real.
