My birthday

I cannot believe I am halfway to 70. How did that happen? I still remember the day I turned 10 and couldn't believe I had entered an age with double digits. That was 25 years ago!

My birthday was wonderful. The day began with me at the DMV renewing my driver's license because I only just realized it was going to expire on my birthday. Then, as we (my boys and I) got into the car, I could see that Luke had pink eye. It has been making the rounds in our neighborhood. We then went to Wal-mart to do the grocery shopping and afterwards I stopped by at Krispy Kreme to get my free birthday donut and drink.

I then did some baking for my tea party I was hosting. All in all we had the following: trifle, malva pudding and custard, lemon meringue, creme brulee, milk tart, apple crisp and ice-cream, and pecan pie and whipped cream. There were also chocolate chip cookies for the kids. Then to drink I served four drinks: white hot chocolate (which was incredible), regular hot chocolate (which was very rich and creamy), an aztec hot chocolate, and rooibos tea.

It was fun having so many friends come and enjoy my birthday with me. I just invited women from my ward and a few South Africans who live near me who help me with the boys (a lot!).

Then, we had Cafe Rio for dinner, which I love. The kids were going to be babysat but with Luke having pink eye, we couldn't let them near any other kids, so they hung out with us.

It was a wonderful birthday. I am so grateful for all the birthday wishes, the phone calls, the skype sessions, the texts, the emails, the gifts,...which all made me feel special). By the end of the day I was exhausted though and went to bed early.
Some of the desserts (minus the milk tart and pecan pie)
Kendra (my friend, gym buddy, and visiting teacher)
Katie, Annie, and Kellie (Kellie is my neighbor, friend, and gym buddy)
Melissa (who helps with the twins 2x a week)
