| About to have his stitches out - not too happy about that (he is holding a piece of candy I gave him to make him feel better - hence the smile) |
A while ago Luke and Rob were playing. Luke was punching Rob in the stomach and Rob was pretending to be hurt each time. Luke loved it because he felt big and tough. I was making dinner and watching the two of them have fun.
Suddenly Charlie (our Labrador Mix) growled. Everyone ignored him because he wasn't playing with them. Rob thought to himself, "If he does that again, I will punish him." But, less than two minutes later Charlie snapped at Luke and unfortunately got the right side of his lip. Rob rushed to Luke and got a cloth on his lip to stop the bleeding but it kept bleeding. Rob then asked me to look at it and I could see it needed stitches so I suggested he take Luke to the E.R. I felt so bad for Luke because he didn't really even know what happened or why.
Rob and I both yelled at Charlie and Rob held him on the ground showing dominance. It was evident Charlie knew he had done the wrong thing. But we've learnt that when Charlie growls (which is rare), we need to move the kids away.
Now Luke has a tiny mark on the right side of his mouth, which I imagine will disappear over time.
