Three months

It is hard to believe that the twins are 3 months old already. I guess I'll be saying that their whole lives: "I can't believe they are 6 years old" and "I can't believe they are 20 years old" and so on. Time does go by quickly especially when you're so busy, I suppose. Sometimes it feels like my whole life consists of just feeding them, changing their diapers, trying to entertain them, or calm them down. Then, in between these times I'm trying to do housework, cook, and get some personal time in.

The first two months, my mom was here and helped with everything, as well as taught me how to bathe them, play games with them, and so on. It was a really tiring time because they were fed every 3 hours and generally feeding and changing them took a whole hour. But, as time has gone by and as I healed from the c-section, I have gained more energy and been able to take on more, until I felt I could cope just fine on my own. They are still a handful at times, especially when they are both crying or they alternate who cries for several hours. Fun times!
Luke and Thomas
Now they are interacting a lot more. They smile and laugh and coo and gurgle. They can hold their heads up and they stay awake a lot of the day. They are also sleeping a lot more at night. Each night at 8pm they get fed, get a bath and new clothes, and then are put in bed. Rob and I sing to them and the light goes out and they go to sleep till about 3am. This is fantastic! They then get fed and a diaper change and are back in bed 20-30 minutes later. They then sleep till about 6:30am or 7:30am.

Luke at 3 months old
It is amazing how different they are to each other. Luke is really laid back and quite a patient little guy. He is very sensitive though and he hates it when people are too rough with him. His cry always melts my heart. He loves to laugh and it is quite easy to get him to smile and laugh. He also often makes really funny faces. Whenever he doesn't want his pacifier or more milk he pulls a face like he is about to throw-up. I always say, "Oh please!!!" haha! He also isn't too fond of bathing. When you put him in the water he always takes deep breaths like the water is too cold or something, but it isn't. I make sure it is a good temperature for them. Anyway, he is a very sweet little child.

Thomas at 2 months old

Thomas is more impetuous and SCREAMS when things don't go his way or he doesn't get what he wants or he is tired. During the day it is often really hard to get him to nap and so as the day wears on and he gets more and more tired, the crying increases until it becomes hysterical at times. He is also a light sleeper (like me!) so little things will wake him up. If I held him ALL the time he'd probably be fine, but that is hard when I need to get things done and I have two babies. He loves to be outside though and that helps to calm him down when he is crying a lot. Thomas is very strong. If you pull on his hands he will sit up and then stand up and his legs will keep him up for a while. His eyes are going dark slowly (while Luke's eyes remain a lighter blue color) and so I think he will have dark brown eyes like Rob. He is generally happiest just after he has eaten. He will give you this broad Cheshire cat smile when his tummy is full. He loves the bath and and would probably stay in for hours if he could. He then loves it when I put lotion on him afterwards. I guess it is like a miniature full body massage for him.

I love it when both of them just stare at me. I just want to cuddle them both at the same time. They really are little darlings and I'm excited for them to grow up and to begin teaching them everything I know.
